Professor Oamen Eronmonsele, Abumere graduated from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife in 1978 with a BSc honours in Physics and a PhD in Solid State Physics at the prestigious University of Manchester Institute of science and Technology (now The University of Manchester), Manchester in 1985. He has served as a three-time head of Physics Department from 1990-1992, 1997-1999 and 2007-2010, Dean Faculty of Science (2010 – 2012) all at the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt. Professor Abumere is a member of some professional bodies namely: Nigerian Solar Energy Forum, Renewable and Alternative Energy Society of Nigeria (RAESON) of which he is a fellow, Nigeria Physics Series Creation (NUPS) and is a fellow and life member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP). In addition, he is currently on sabbatical leave at the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State.
RESEARCH
He has been involved in the following researches;
- Investigation of the spectroscopic studies of carbonates and quartz.
- Noise pollution studies within some major towns in Nigeria.
Ongoing Research
He is currently investigating the efficient harness and use of solar energy and other forms of alternative energy.
