Brief Statement on Dr. Uzodinma Adirieje, on Energy, Climate, Biodiversity, Ecosystems, etc.

 Uzodinma Adirieje (DrNigerian), is a Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Ecosystems Activist; Health and Development advocate/practitioner, researcher, professional programme/project manager and writer/blogger. A Health Economist, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) consultant and former Technical Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs (2012-14), Dr. Adirieje has also been working with Nigeria’s Senate and House of Representative Health Committees, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Federal Ministries of Health (FMOH), Women Affairs/Social Development (FMWASD) and Power and Energy. Adirieje was trained and awarded certificate by the Energy Commission of Nigeria at the 1st National Forum on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Conservation in 2011.

He’s President of the Society for Conservation and Sustainability of Energy and Environment in Nigeria (SOCSEEN); CEO, Afrihealth Optonet Association – a CSOs Network with ECOSOC consultative status; National Publicity Secretary of the Council for Renewable Energy Nigeria [CREN]; Chairman, Nigeria Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (NiPBES) since 2019; Alternate Focal Person/Member Steering Committee, Nigeria Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Alliance (NREEE Alliance); and Member, Technical Committee Meeting on Draft Standards for Renewable Energy in Nigeria. Dr. Adirieje has participated in the 2018 African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) in Nairobi and 2018 meetings/activities of Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

During 2017-2018, Adirieje was Project Director of the vastly media-reported ‘Sustainable Citizen Participation (SCP) in Nigeria’s Niger Delta’ Project funded by United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF); which addressed many Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) challenges across eighty-one communities/LGAs in Niger Delta.

He is the National President and Fellow, Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE); Executive Secretary, Nigeria Universal Health Coverage Actions Network (NUHCAN), President, Civil Society Strategy Group on the SDGs; Fellow, African Scientific Institute, USA; Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants; Fellow, Institute of Management Specialists, UK.
